Kevin Harvick driver of the No.29 Chevrolet of Richard Childress Racing had the fastest time when first practice came to a close at The Sprint Unlimited on Friday night. Harvick’s top speed was 197.367 mph, with a fast lap time of 45.601.

Five drivers did not walk away unscathed though, as nine minutes into the session Matt Kenseth came down on Kurt Busch, and the chain reaction included Mark Martin, Carl Edwards and Juan Pablo Montoya.
“I had know idea (Kurt) was there. I had no idea anyone was even close to me,” Kenseth said, taking responsibility for the accident.
Final practice is set for 6:30 p.m.
