Elliott Sadler falls short of title as career at RCR closes, JGR bound?

Elliott Sadler won four races in 2012. It was not enough. He still found himself 23 points behind Ricky Stenhouse Jr. who won his second consecutive title in the Nationwide Series.

Sadler will not return to Richard Childress Racing in 2013. Rumors persist to swirl that Sadler will race the 2013 season for Joe Gibbs Racing in the Nationwide Series. Sadler recently said that he was close to a contract for the 2013 season but declined to say with whom he had been speaking with.

At JGR he would join Brian Vickers who recently signed a contract to drive one of the teams entries in the series. This season JGR fielded two full time cars and a third car when imposable.

The No. 18 car won the Nationwide Series Owners title. Joey Logano won 9 races for the team in 2012.

  1. Elliott has proven over the past two seasons that he is a competitive driver. In his career in the Nationwide and Sprint Cup series, he proved that with good quality owners and equipment, he can run with any of the top drivers in any series he competes in. I have been a fan of Elliott ever since he represented the Air Force when he was the driver for the #21 Wood’s Brothers car. Even with that stable only entering a single car entry, Elliott has proven that not only is he a great driver, but also a excellent ambassador of the sport.
