The Blue Jays have soured on Rasmus who is hitting just .225\/.287\/.438 on the season and headed towards free agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll be playing whenever they think I should play and I\u2019m just going to be sitting around watching these rookies play,\u201d Rasmus said in an interview on Wednesday via the <a href=\"http:\/\/sports.nationalpost.com\/2014\/09\/03\/toronto-blue-jays-colby-rasmus-says-he-has-been-benched-in-favour-of-rookies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">National Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anthony Gose and Kevin Pillar will get some playing time in center field as the season comes to an end.<\/p>\n<p>A former first-round pick in 2005, Ramus had his best statistical season in 2013 when he hit ,276\/.\/338\/.501 with 22 home runs and 66 RBI.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Toronto Blue Jays have benched outfielder Colby Rasmus.
