\nThe Oakland Athletics have placed pitcher Drew Pomeranz on the 15-day disabled list.<\/p>\n

Pomeranz, 25, punched a wooden chair with his right hand following Monday’s poor outing that saw him allow eight runs – seven earned – in just 3 2\/3 innings of work.<\/p>\n

The good news for Pomeranz is that he throws with his left hand, the bad news is that he in unable to catch the ball currently.<\/p>\n

“I just let my emotions take over me, and I did something stupid,” Pomeranz said Tuesday afternoon, via the Athletics website<\/a>. “Obviously, I didn’t mean for it to happen. It sucks because I want to play, I want to pitch. I’m trying to win games and help the team out. Obviously, I’m not helping the team out when I do something stupid like that.”<\/p>\n

The A’s will need a pitcher come Saturday and one option could be Brad Mills<\/a> who was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Though 17 games, 8 starts, Pomeranz had a 2.91 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
