\nIt took until the middle of June but New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey has come to the conclusion of everyone else, he is unlikely to pitch in 2014.<\/p>\n

“I’m always going to be on board with what they have to say,” Harvey said of the Mets and their medical team via Mets.com<\/a>. “I can only do so much, and speak my two cents. As a competitor, I’m always going to want to get out there, but I can’t write myself out there and set up my own program, so whatever they have set up is obviously the way we’re going to go.”<\/p>\n

Harvey went on to say that there was always a chance he was not going to return this season.<\/p>\n

“I think it’s always been there,” Harvey said. “I think it was a matter of me not wanting it to happen. I still want to pitch this year. That’s always going to be on my mind. But coming to realize that I can’t write myself in the lineup is becoming a little bit more realistic.”<\/p>\n

Harvey will be ready to go for the 2015 season. In 2013 he was an NL All-Star posting a 9-5 record to go with a 2.27 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
