Dempster has been seeking a three-year deal worth $39 million this winter while the Red Sox are said to have offered him a two-year deal worth $25 million.<\/p>\n<p>While its unknown if either side has budged from their original stance, Ken Rosenthal <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/Ken_Rosenthal\/status\/278917624140808192\">described<\/a> the discussions between the two as &#8220;serious.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In 28 starts last season Dempster finished with a 12-8 record and a 3.38 ERA. Last season was the first time since 2008 that Dempster did not start at-least 31 games, prior to that he was used as a closer for the Cubs.<\/p>\n<p>The Red Sox also have taken a look at Anibal Sanchez, Kyle Lohse, Francisco Liriano and Shaun Marcum.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Boston Red Sox and Ryan Dempster have resumed contract talks.
