Last season Youkilis split time between Boston and the Chicago White Sox.<\/p>\n<p>Youkilis batted .235\/.336\/.409 with 19 home runs and 60 RBI in 122 games in 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The Cleveland Indians had a two-year deal on the table which was believed to have been worth $18 million. That deal would have paid him more guaranteed money but would have placed him on a team which is not expected to compete.<\/p>\n<p>In New York, Youkilis will take the place of Alex Rodriguez until he returns from hip surgery.
