\nThe St. Louis Cardinals will welcome back left handed pitcher Jaime Garcia on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Garcia, 26, has been out while recovering from a torn labrum that forced him to undergo surgery last year. He will throw a bullpen session on Thursday and if all goes well he will be activated in time to start Sunday against the Atlanta Braves.<\/p>\n

The Cardinals have not had Garcia on the mound in a regular season game since May 17 of last season.<\/p>\n

“I’m at a point where I can compete and I can go out there and do what is asked of me to do,” Garcia said Wednesday, via the Cardinals website<\/a>. “Obviously, you don’t have it all figured out, but you go out there and can think about pitching and getting hitters out, not just how bad your shoulder is going to hurt. I’m here. I’ve got to get ready for [Sunday]. I’m really excited to be here. I was really anxious to get with this team.”<\/p>\n

In parts of five seasons at the big league level Garcia owns a 39-25 record, 3.45 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP across 99 big league games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
