Seriously, what took so long?<\/p>\n

The New York Yankees announced on Thursday that they will retire the No. 6 which had been worn by former manager Joe Torre.<\/p>\n

With the retiring of the No. 6 and Derek Jeter’s retirement at the end of this season the Yankees will no longer have any single digit numbers available.<\/p>\n

Below is a list of single digit number which have or will be retired by the Yankees<\/p>\n

Here are the single digit numbers retired by the Yankees:<\/p>\n

  2. Derek Jeter*<\/li>\n
  3. Babe Ruth<\/li>\n
  4. Lou Gehrig<\/li>\n
  5. Joe DiMaggio<\/li>\n
  6. Joe Torre<\/li>\n
  7. Mickey Mantle<\/li>\n
  8. Yogi Berra\/Bill Dickey<\/li>\n
  9. Roger Maris<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    *still active<\/p>\n

    The No. 10 has been retired for Phil Rizzuto. Brett Gardner, who wears No. 11, is the lowest digit on the Yankees roster.<\/p>\n
