The Mets will now rest him for two weeks and eventual Tommy John surgery is possible. <\/p>\n<p>Parnell allowed one run in his inning of work on Monday, blowing a save opportunity in a Mets loss to the Washington Nationals. <\/p>\n<p>Jose Valverde will operate as the Mets closer for the foreseeable future. <\/p>\n<p>Parnell pitched in 49 games last season posting a 2.16 ERA with a 3.67 K\/BB while saving 22 games. <\/p>\n<p>Vic Black, Jeurys Familia, and Gonzalez Germen could be all be candidates for saves at some point this season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New York Mets pitcher Bobby Parnell has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his right elbow.
