This spring he hit .410 (16-for-39) with one home run and four doubles over 14 games earning a spot on the bench. <\/p>\n<p>If nothing else Johnson gives the Marlins a low cost veteran who will not embarrass himself in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson had spent the past two seasons as a bench bat for the Atlanta Braves. He finished last season hitting .244\/.311\/.341 with a home run and 11 RBI in 136 plate appearances.<\/p>\n<p>One player who will not be on the Marlins roser is veteran infielder Ty Wigginton.<\/p>\n<p>The 36-year-old simply did not produce this spring hitting just .147 after coming to camp as a non-roster invitee. <\/p>\n<p>Wigginton has found his way onto rosters in similar circumstances in recent seasons but he bottomed out with a .158\/.238\/.193 line last season in 47 games games with St. Louis before being released in July.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Reed Johnson has made the Miami Marlins as a reserve outfielder.
