We\u2019re good. We talked, they\u2019re talking and I just asked for one year. I didn\u2019t ask for anything crazy. It wasn\u2019t like I asked for a five-year deal. It\u2019s a one-year extension I asked for,\u201d Ortiz said \u00a0of his talks with the Red Sox.<\/p>\n<p>Ortiz is under contract for the 2014 season. He will be finishing out the second year of a contract that increased in value to $30 million after he avoided the disabled last season.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had a conversation, they\u2019re outlining what they plan on doing and they\u2019re going to come back to me with their answer at some point. \u2026 Everything is going well. We had a great conversation. They are happy about what we talked about. I don\u2019t even know why people are spreading bad rumors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ortiz has done this for a few years now. Expect the Red Sox to work something out with him before Spring Training. There&#8217;s virtually no way he leaves Boston.<\/p>\n<p>vid Ortiz is looking for a one-year extension on his current contract, he said in a discussion with WEEI.com&#8217;s Rob Bradford.<\/p>\n<div>&#8220;We\u2019re good. It\u2019s a one-year extension I asked for,&#8221; Ortiz said of his discussions with the club. In the same conversation the 38-year-old said talks with the club have been &#8220;great.&#8221; It was reported earlier in the week that Ortiz was unhappy with the team&#8217;s hesitation to offer a long-term contract, but the designated hitter is trying to squash those notions.
