The Braves will use Wood as a relief pitcher during the post season and want to give the 22-year-old lefty a chance to get comfortable in that role.<\/p>\n<p>Wood had not went five innings in his last three starts.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday the Braves used Wood in the eighth inning, something that should continue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a lot of pluses with him going into the bullpen,&#8221; manager Fredi Gonzalez said. &#8220;It has nothing to do with the innings [he has completed]. It has everything to do with us being a better pitching staff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The addition of Wood to the bullpen gives the Braves three left handed pitchers in the bullpen.<\/p>\n<p>In 27 games this season Wood has a 3.21 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP for the Braves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Alex Wood&#8217;s time in the Atlanta Braves rotation has come to an end.
