The Phillies right hander had a 8.65 ERA on the season prior to the surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Halladay had a bone spur in his shoulder removed and his torn rotator cuff repaired on Wednesday. Halladay will rest for the next six to eight weeks before resuming a throwing program according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cbssports.com\/mlb\/blog\/eye-on-baseball\/22256337\/halladay-undergoes-shoulder-surgery-may-start-throwing-in-68-weeks\" target=\"_blank\">Mike Axisa<\/a> of CBS Sports.<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the season Halladay will become a free agent.<\/p>\n<p>The Phillies are also without pitcher John Lannan who will also miss six to eight weeks with a quad strain near his knee.
