Barney is hitting a disappointing .153\/.274\/.264 on the season.<\/p>\n<p>Chicago did not expect Barney, a career .257 hitter, to be a large portion of their offense this season but his current problems at the plate can not be over looked even with gold glove caliber defense.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">According to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GDubCub\/status\/333343251312566272\" target=\"_blank\">Gordon Wittenmyer<\/a> Cubs general manager Jed Hoyer said prior to Saturday&#8217;s game against Washington that the Cubs would keep Barney with the big league club.
