\nDespite some struggles to start the season, Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon stood behind closer Fernando Rodney.<\/p>\n

Rodney blew a save on Tuesday and allowed four runs in a non-save situation back on Sunday.<\/p>\n

“Here\u2019s the deal,” said McClendon via the Tacoma News Tribune<\/a>. “People fly off the handle and say, `Rodney stinks. We need to change. Get another closer.\u2019 OK, when that doesn\u2019t work out, then what? You want me to go back? Or do you want me to try somebody else? That\u2019s how all hell breaks loose.”<\/p>\n

Rodney has blamed an inability to locate his pitches for his early struggles.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mechanics are not the problem,\u201d he insisted. \u201cI feel like I\u2019m delivering the ball there. But a couple pitches I missed in the strike zone and, here, you can\u2019t miss.\u201d<\/p>\n
