Lackey made $15.25 million last season as he split time between the Boston Red Sox and Cardinals but now he will enter the 2015 season playing for the league minimum thanks to a clause in the contract he signed with the Red Sox that said he would have a sixth season added to his contract if he were to miss significant time.<\/p>\n
The Red Sox signed Lackey to a five-year $82 million contract before the 2010 season.<\/p>\n
While the 36-year-old Lackey would be more than willing to sign a new deal with the Cardinals there has been nothing from the Cardinals to suggest they want to extend him beyond this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it\u2019s something that works for both sides. I would like it,\u201d said Lackey, \u201cThis group of guys … this organization … it\u2019s a great place to be and it\u2019s something I would entertain for sure.\u201d <\/p>\n
Lackey was 3-3 with a 4.30 ERA for the Cardinals once being acquired.<\/p>\n
