Jason Heyward will take batting practice on Friday according to Atlanta Braves general manager Frank Wren.
Heyward, 24, has not appeared in a game since Aug. 21 when he was hit in the jaw by Mets pitcher Jon Niese.
Wren said Heyward will be on the field taking BP with the team on Friday. Still too early to place a definitive timetable for his return.

BETHANCOURT:Â Braves call up catcher
The Braves and Heyward currently have not expressed when the outfielder may return but taking batting practice is obviously a good sign.
