The Cardinals have hired Mike Maddux to be their pitching coach.
Maddux, 56, was said to be working on a new deal with the Nationals following the firing of manager Dusty Baker but in the meantime he was able to join other organizations and apparently he likes the opportunity in St. Louis.

Derek Lilliquist was fired by the Cardinals at the end of the 2017 season.
Maddux has also served as a pitching coach for the Brewers and Rangers.
