Dillon Gee signs minor league deal with Royals

The Royals have added right handed pitcher Dillon Gee on a minor league deal.

Gee, 29, will also receive an invitation to spring training with the Royals and can earn up to $5.4 million if he makes the teams 40-man roster and hits all of his incentives.

The signing of Gee comes shortly after the Royals lost Johnny Cueto to the Giants in free agency and at the same time they added John Lannan on a minor league deal.

Gee fell out of flavor with the Mets last year posting a 5.90 ERA over 39 2/3 innings of work before being booted off the 40-man roster.

The Royals are looking for Gee to offer insurance. Overall in six big league seasons he is 40-37 with a 4.03 ERA and a 1.31 WHIP.
