Red Sox trying to land both Sandoval and Ramirez, A’s pick up Davis

Long linked to Pablo Sandoval the Red Sox are said to have offered the former Giants third baseman a five year deal worth $95 million. Sandoval has also drawn interest from his former team as well as the Padres.

While Sandoval would be a nice gain, the Red Sox are also interested in adding Hanley Ramirez. The Red Sox have the ability to add both players and doing so would surely move them to the role of favorites in the AL East.

The Athletics have added Ike Davis to their roster.

Davis, 27, was designated for assignment by the Pirates last week after hitting a combined .233/.344/.378 with 11 homers and 51 RBI in 360 at-bats between them and the Mets last season. He offers some power from the left side and given the Athletic’s penchant for using platoons may be able to see some action in that capacity next season.
