The New York Mets are not planning to release outfielder Chris Young reports Mike Puma of the New York Post.
Young, 30, is playing on a one-year deal worth $7.25 million this season but is hitting just .201/.284/.313 in 58 games.
Mets official answered a blunt "no" when I asked if dumping Chris Young was a possibility.

Previously it had been reported that Young would be cut to make room for a returning Juan Lagares.
Even if Young stays on the roster for the time being its clear his days with the Mets are numbered unless he starts to produce in a hurry. It has been a sharp decline for Young who was an All-Star in 2010.
