The New York Yankees have placed pitcher C.C. Sabathia on the 15-day disabled list with an injury to his right knee.
Following his start on Saturday the 33-year-old left hander notified the team of the pain. An MRI on Sabathia’s knee showed some fluid build up. That fluid will be drained and Sabathia should be set to rejoin the Yankees as soon as his 15 days are up.
Alfredo Aceves will replace Sabathia in the rotation.
Sabathia allowed four runs (one earned) in his 5 1/3 innings of work on Saturday. For the season he is 3-4 with a 5.28 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP.
