Dodgers defeat Dbacks in season opener

Clayton Kershaw was on the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers when the 2014 season got underway in Sydney, Australia. He wasted no time reminding everyone why he was the National League Cy Young Award Winner last season.

Kershaw pitched 6 2/3 innings allowing one earned run on five his and a walk while striking out seven Diamondbacks.

Offensively the Dodgers were powered by Scott Van Slyke who hit a two run homer off of Diamondbacks starter Wade Miley in the fourth inning and Andre Ethier who drive in a run in he second inning.

The two teams will meet again tonight at 10:00 pm ET (7:00 pm PT) This came will be available to watch on MLB Network. Hyun Jin Ryu will be pitching for the Dodgers with Trevor Cahill on the mound for the Diamondbacks.
