The Philadelphia Philies have added infielder/outfielder Brian Bixler via a minor league contract.
Bixler, 31, should offer the Phillies some organizational depth but probably will not make the team out of spring training. Last season he appeared at the Triple-A level in the New York Mets system hitting .259./323/.372 over 101 games.
In Bixler’s big league career he has seen action with the Pittsburgh Pirates, Washington Nationals and Houston Astros appearing in 183 games with a career .189/.249/.269 line.
