Rays pick up option on David DeJesus

The Tampa Bay Rays exercised their option on outfielder David DeJesus on Sunday.

DeJesus will make $6.5 million during the 2014 season for the Rays while operating in a platoon role. Last season DeJesus hit .251/.327/.402 with eight homers and 38 RBI in 122 games.

Had the Rays declined the option on DeJesus they would have been left paying a $1.5 million buyout.
