The Washington Nationals will finish the season with a new hitting coach after the team fired Rick Eckstein on Monday.

Eckstein was in his fifth season as the Nationals hitting coach and will be replaced by minor league hitting coordinator Rick Schu.

The Nationals had scored 362 runs though their first 98 games this season ranking them 28th in baseball. With the guidance of the older brother of former major leaguer David Eckstein, the Nationals are at the bottom or near the bottom in almost every offensive statistic.

Washington was tenth in runs scored last season as the team won the NL East. Currently the Nationals are seven games behind Atlanta.
