The Arizona Diamondbacks have released Eric Hinske. Once a valuable bench bat the 35-year-old Hinske was hitting just .173 this season.
Hinske is expected to retire after hitting 137 home runs in his 12 year career.
This season Hinske appeared in 52 games for the Diamondbacks but amassed only 52 at-bats. Hinske’s best season came in his rookie season of 2002 when he set career highs with 24 home runs, 84 RBI and a .279/.365/.481 line.
