The Seattle Mariners have acquired Michael Morse from the Washington Nationals. Morse’s acquisition is part of a three team deal that will also send John Jaso to the Athletics and A.J Cole to the Nationals. The Nationals will also get two additional prospects in the deal.

There is one year left on Morse’s contract which will pay him $6.75 million in 2013.

Morse became expendable after the Nationals resigned first basemen Adam LaRoche to a two-year deal a week ago. The Nationals also traded for Denard Span earlier this offseason.

Morse hit .297/.343/.515 with 49 homers over the last two years for the Nationals.

Ironically the Nationals acquired Morse from the Mariners in exchange for outfielder Ryan Langerhans in June of 2009.
