Report: George Karl fired as Nuggets head coach

Denver Nuggets head coach, George Karl will not be returning next season, according to Yahoo! Sports. Karl spent nine seasons with the team and had 1,131 victories an NBA head coach.

Karl still had a year left on his contract and was pushing for an extension, but ownership was unwilling to make the commitment, according to the source. Nuggets management believes they can attract a top coach with their young, talented roster.

This is the second change this season for the Nuggets as GM Masai Ujiri left to Toronto, Denver will be starting over with its front office and leadership.

Denver won 57 games and earned a third seed in the Western Conference playoffs. Karl was the 2012-’13 NBA Coach of the Year with the team.
