NASCAR makes adjustments to Cup Series dirt race

On Saturday NASCAR made adjustments to the Bristol Dirt Race which is scheduled for Sunday.

Kyle Larson was awarded the pole for the race, but will drop to the rear due to an engine change. Now the lineup for the race will be playing by some different rules as NASCAR has altered the stage lengths and added competition cautions at the midway points of the first and second stage.

Stage 1 will now end on Lap 100. Previously it was to end on Lap 75. There will be a competition caution on Lap 50.

Stage 2 will now end on Lap 200. Previously it was to end on Lap 150. There will be a competition caution on Lap 150.

NASCAR will not count laps once the free pass car is sent around.

Teams will now also have an additional set of tires due to higher than anticipated tire wear taking place during Friday’s practice.
