Phil Surgen taking over as crew chief for No. 42 of Kenseth

On Tuesday it was announced that Phil Surgen was taking over crew chief duties on the No. 42 car driven by Matt Kenseth in the NASCAR Cup Series. Chad Johnston has previously held that role.

Statement from Chip Ganassi Racing: “Phil Surgen has been named crew chief for the No. 42 team at Chip Ganassi Racing beginning this weekend at Michigan International Speedway and for the balance of the 2020 season. Surgen, who is currently a race engineer on the No. 42 team, has been with the team since 2016.”
