Defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski, driver of the No. 2 Miller Lite Ford for Penske Racing was penalized on Tuesday by NASCAR after failing post race inspection on Sunday at Dover International Speedway.

Keselowski was penalized six driver points knocking him from 8th to 10th in the point standings. He holds onto a position in the top ten by eight points over Jeff Gordon. Car owner, Roger Penske also lost 6 car owner points.

Keselowski’s crew chief, Paul Wolffe was fined $25,000 and will stay on probation until Dec. 31, 2013.

Keselowski was penalized when his car measured too low in post-race inspection following his fifth-place finish in last weekends FedEx 400 benefiting Autism Speaks.

Penske Racing said the infraction is due to a broken part and will not appeal.

This was the second time this season that Keselowski and the team have been penalized. Following the April race at Texas Motor Speedway, both the No. 2 and 22 of Joey Logano were penalized for infractions involving the rear-end housings of the organization’s two cars.
