Matt Kenseth Gets New Ride at Bristol

Matt Kenseth will have new colors on his car this weekend when the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series heads to Bristol Motor Speedway.

Kenseth will be driving the No. 17 Ford Fusion for Roush Fenway Racing with sponsorship coming from Valvoline NextGen.

In 25 starts at Bristol, Kenseth has two wins on the 0.533 mile track. He has seventeen finishes inside the top ten.

Kenseth is as interested as anyone when it comes to how the recent grinding of Bristol’s top grove will affect Saturday nights race.

“I’m really not sure how the changes to the track surface at Bristol will affect the racing, but it should be interesting to see how it all works this weekend. If it turns out to be as slick as people are thinking it’s going to be, it’s going to be really tough to run side-by-side. It could be trouble if you’re running along someone and they decide to push you up into that top groove, so we’ll see how it all plays out.”

Currently Kenseth is second in the Sprint Cup standings, trailing teammate Greg Biffle by twenty points.

  1. It won’t seem so different seeing Matt driving with a different sponsor or color on his car, as we see that all the time. What will be different is the car number, Matt has had the #17 forever. Its just to bad drivers can’t take there present number with them from team to team. If you are a junkie fan and collect that driver’s #17 stuff then you have to start all over with another number. Might be another change that nascar should look into!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
