Sam Hornish Jr. gets first NASCAR Pole

Sam Hornish Jr. won his first pole ever in NASCAR today at Watkins Glen International Raceway. He will lead the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) to the green flag later today. Hornish will drive the No. 12 Dodge for Penske Racing in the Zippo 200.

Today is a good opportunity for Hornish to make up some points in the NNS standings as he enters the day 34 points behind Elliott Sadler. Sadler will start the race from the 7th spot while Austin Dillion, who is second in the points, will start 30th. The 2011 Nationwide Series Champion, Ricky Stenhouse is third in the point standings and will start 10th.

Carl Edwards who is making his first NNS appearance of the season will start second. He is driving the No. 60 Subway Ford Mustang.
