Austin Dillon has been docked 6 points in the NASCAR Nationwide standings following an infraction during qualifying for last Friday’s race at Daytona. Dillon’s car had an open hose to the cockpit which was noticed following it’s qualifying attempt.

This is the second straight week in which Dillon’s #3 car has incurred a 6 point penalty. He received a penalty following his win at Kentucky Speedway after it was deemed that his Chevrolet was too low.

The penalty will drop him to 8 points behind series points leader Elliott Sadler.

Crew chief Danny Stockman has been suspended for the next two weeks.

Dillon is the grandson of Richard Childress. Last season he won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series title.

Joe Gibbs #18 penalized also

The Joe Gibbs #18 was penalized for being too low. The penalty was 6 points in the owner standings.

Crew chief Adam Stevens has been fined $10,000 and placed on NASCAR probation until Aug. 22.

Joey Logano drove the car to a fifth place finish on Friday night.
