Danica Patrick moves up 6 spots in Nationwide standings

While Ricky Stenhouse Jr used a win at Friday nights Nationwide race to move within four points of Elliott Sadler for the series point lead he was not the only driver who made big gains in the Lone Star state.

Propelled by her first top-10 of the season, Patrick moved up six positions to 11th in the Nationwide driver standings. It was a needed finish for the driver who was coming off a 35th place finish at Fontana.Patrick is tied with Joe Nemechek for 11th, they trail Mike Bliss by 15 points for 10th.

Even with the move up the point standings, some will point out that Patrick is still an astonishing 38 points behind Trevor Bayne who did not even race at Texas and is uncertain of his next Nationwide appearance.

The next race on the Nationwide schedule is Richmond. Danica finished 18th there last fall.

  1. That car would have most likely have won the race if it would have been driven by a top twenty-five driver instead of a spokeswoman for women’s liberation. It is a shame that better drivers are completely ignored by the press. Who finished 17th or for that matter third or forth. She isn’t deserving of all the attention that she gets. Will we ever get back to NASCAR. The only announcer that told it the way it was about her was Kyle Petty but he has been set straight by the network so everyone is on the Danica bandwagon. She is no where near the top level of drivers, hell she isn’t even the best woman driver out there. If people want to see her drive NA SCAR has a million devisions already why not the powder-puff series. terry brown
