Timmy Hill abandons Sprint Cup plans

The plan for Rick Ware Racings entry into the Sprint Cup level of NASCAR has changed. No longer will Timmy Hill attempt to make the field in an effort to win rookie of the year honors.

The 2011 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year will return to that series for the rest of the 2012 season. His return to the Nationwide Series will began next weekend at Texas.

“We as a team took a chance to compete in the Sprint Cup Series and move this team to the next level. We learned a lot from this experience, but it’s time to take a step back and regroup on what we learned to apply that for the future. So we are temporarily putting the Cup program on hold.”

Hill was joined in the off season at Rick Ware Racing by Blake Koch who he narrowly defeated for rookie honors last season.

Earlier this season Hill earned RWR it’s first top-10 finish in it’s six seasons when he drove the #15 car to a 7th place finish at Daytona.
