Robby Gordon looking for investors, committed to NASCAR

Robby Gordon says he hopes to continue running NASCAR races at the Sprint Cup level but acknowledges that his team is being hindered by the lack of sponsorship.

Gordon is not guaranteed a starting spot in Sunday’s running of the Daytona 500 and has been one of the slowest cars during the first rounds of practice in preparation for the 54th running of the Daytona 500.

Currently Gordon has sponsorship for Daytona from Mapei and Menards but will have to turn to his energy drink Speed Energy to keep the car decaled up if investors do not step forward.

The reality is, I don’t want to be all the way out,” Gordon said. “I would like to run about 15 stock car races a year. That would be my goal.”

Gordon must qualify on time or race his way into the Daytona 500 via one of the Gatorade Duels if he plans to race on Sunday. Right now it is unclear how many races Gordon will attempt in 2012.
