Villeneuve to drive for Go Canada?

Jacques Villeneuve has been speeking with Go Canada Racing according to the Montreal Journal. The report says that Villeneuve could run as many as a dozen races for the team this season.

Go Canada Racing is owned by Steve Meehan. Andrew Ranger is expected to pilot the car for much of the season and David Ragan has been signed for the series opening race at Daytona.

Last year J.R. Fitzpatrick drove the for team in a handful of races but left the team in early September.

Villeneuve has made 7 starts at the Nationwide level with 3 of them reporting in top-5’s. Last year he finished 3rd at Elkhart Lake and 27th at Montreal while driving the #22 Dodge for Penske Racing.

Villeneuve has stated in the past that he would like to be able to run a full season in a NASCAR series or perhaps even own a team.

Villeneuve was the 1997 Formula One champion when he won 7 races, he also was the 1995 CART Champion. He has not won a race in any major series since 1997.

Thanks to Jayski for earlier report.
