Red Bull not looking good for 2012

The demise was years in the making but may finally be here. Tom Jensen of Speed claims that today was the final day for the team to either be sold or restructured. While it’s believed there were numerous inquiries about the program, no one has stepped forward to purchase the team.

Team Red Bull was going to be in a tough position at the end of 2011 even if they were planning on racing. Driver of the #4 car Kasey Kahne joins Hendrick Motorsports after one year and takes along crew chief Kenny Francis. The other driver who drove for them in 2011, Brian Vickers, is not under contract either.

With no drivers and no crew chiefs under contract any potential buyer has to know that they would be faced with an uphill battle. It’s December which means it’s already late in the year to try and nail down sponsorship for next season.

Then there is the matter that the team was not competitive for most of the season. All not good signs if anyone was hoping to see the remains of this team surface at the Sprint Cup level in 2012.
